 248,00 VAT incl.

Philips Art Deco logo from 1938 designed by Louis Kalff. Very rare.

Estimated period: 1938

Material: Paper pressed on cardboard.

Dimensions: 24,5 cm (h) x 18 cm (w)

Philips started in 1891, but the first known logo dates from 1938. The logo is based on an earlier version introduced around 1925. It is designed by Johann G. van der Leij and Louis Kalff. Johann decorated the emblem with shining four-pointed stars, which he associated with electric light, and Louis Kalff added wavy stripes – sound waves moving through the air.

The logo is formed by a vertical rectangle (top) that flows smoothly into a circle (bottom) and forms a golden surface. Against this background, other elements are depicted: a blue horizontal rectangle with the words “PHILIPS” and a red circle with three wavy lines and four stars.

This advertising sign is in excellent condition with very minor signs of age (see photos).
