The table lamp Model D-2059 produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s by Raak Amsterdam was designed by Nanny Still Mckinsey, according to the reference works. This table lamp made of metal and glass has a height of no less than 80 cm and is therefore a real eye-catcher in the interior. The base consists of metal rings with gemstones made of oven-fermented glass. The lamp has an interesting shade made of matt polished blank aluminum. Raak Amsterdam describes the gemstones as “… glass fermented in the growing kiln and solidified into worlds of almost non-existent color and structure” (Raak Amsterdam Light Catalogue, page 32). Due to the timeless decorative appearance, the lamps suit a retro ’70s, a Mid-Century Modern, Art Deco, Regency, brutalist or an industrial or contemporary interior. The aluminum lampshade has a slightly conical shape. The central tubular aluminum column rises from the base. This is decorated with a series of 5 aluminum rings. The top and bottom are empty round frames.
The 3 rings in the middle hold handmade colored glass panels. Each of these 5 rings rotates 360 degrees and can be placed in different positions, as well as moving up and down the main vertical column. Each glass section consists of 2 round glass panels of the same colour, mounted on either side of the aluminum round frame. The diversity of texture, effect and color is exceptional. The lamp is in good condition and has normal signs of wear depending on the age of the lamp. All glass panels are original with no chips or cracks. The brushed aluminum base is in good condition, without dents and only superficial signs of age. The stainless steel shade is in very good condition (see photos). The lamp has been completely restored (not by us) with attention to the natural patina. We gave the lamp a new earthed plug.
